QUESTIONS

What is Rooral Coliving Exactly?

Coliving at Rooral means creating a community of like-minded individuals who not only share a workspace but also a vibrant living experience in a picturesque Spanish pueblo (village). In today's fast-paced world, people crave real experiences and many wonder how it is to live in a small rural area in a more simple and community-oriented way. Our village coliving environment fosters this journey. Break free from the routine of everyday life and immerse yourself in an authentic experience filled with inspiring people, nature and a welcoming atmosphere. At Rooral, you’ll find the perfect blend of connection, support, and comfort as you embrace this unique rural lifestyle.

Is this Rooral experience aligned with me? Who typically joins?

Participants on a Rooral retreat are normally well travelled professionals with diverse personalities and interests. The common denominator is the desire to slow down and living a more connected and regenerative lifestyle. Our average age of Rooralists is mid 30's to mid 40's, but we've welcomed people of all ages. When it comes to roles, we have hosted people from the whole spectrum: from CEOs and entrepreneurs, to artists and nature experts. The more diverse, the more learning & fun! An important point is it's not necessary to be working on something in order to participate. Many joining us are taking time off, are retired, or just deciding what comes next in life and are looking for some inspiration. Since regeneration is one of the organizing principles of Rooral, many participants are passionate about environment, deepening into local cultures and looking forward to connecting with rural wisdom.

What do I need to bring?

At Rooral, we provide everything you would typically expect in a hotel or beach apartment. We supply all the essential daily items, including basic cooking ingredients to enjoy our fully equiped kitchens. Enjoy specialty coffee, organic tea, extra virgin olive oil, along with fresh linens and towels changed weekly. We also offer weekly cleaning services to ensure your stay is comfortable and hassle-free. Do not forget to bring your curious and compassionate heart!

How big is the group?

The size of the group at Rooral changes every week as people join and leave. Typically, our smallest groups consist of around 5-6 people, while the maximum can reach up to 13. Smaller groups create a cozy atmosphere where we get to know each other better and engage in special activities together. In contrast, larger groups bring more variety and energy, making for a dynamic experience. Plus, don’t forget that the village is home to about 300 other neighbors, providing even more opportunities for collaborations, learnings and shared experiences!

What’s the arrangement for cooking and food?

At Rooral, you and your fellow participants have access to our fully equiped kitchens at any time. There’s plenty of space in our fridges and cupboards for you to store your food. Two small supermarkets and two local butcheries are just 30 seconds from your accommodation, offering all the essentials. For fresh fish, there is a van that comes to the village twice a week, and also a roasted chicken truck! We often enjoy cooking and sharing dinner together, but participation is entirely up to you! If you are not that much into cooking there are also three local restaurants where you can eat and try amazing local cuisines at great value for money. The Sunday paella is €5 euros a plate for example. If you’re looking for something special that you can’t find locally, we typically visit larger supermarkets twice a week for international food options. Plus, Amazon and other shipping services deliver here every other day for your convenience.

When can I join?

2024 we are open May, June, September, October, November and December. We accept bookings for entire weeks, being the minimum stay 2 weeks. This is because we want to make sure you have enough time to land, savour pueblo life and feel the benefits of slow living. We centralize check-ins and check-outs on Sundays, as we provide a curated experience and want to make your stay as smooth as possible. Write to us if this is not an option for you and we can discuss potential options.

Is there an agenda?

Absolutely! We have a Google Calendar that keeps everyone updated on all the activities and workshops happening at Rooral. However, it's important to note that we’re not a retreat; we’re a community. At the beginning of each week, we discuss everyone's interests and opportunities, and then we create an agenda based on that feedback. The agenda can change depending on the season, availability, and other factors. We do have some regular activities, like communal dinners and art sessions with local grandmas, as well as more on-demand options, such as goat cheese making or cultural visits. Flexibility is key here, so it’s all about going with the flow and embracing a co-created mindset. Always excited to support you in your proposals!
